"On this morning, I knew it was going to be a clear day so I set out before the morning traffic to photograph the St. Paul skyline.

It was a brilliant morning, and the city sparkled. But as I was photographing the skyline, I almost felt that something was missing. After I packed up and was ready to head home, I noticed this house. Somehow, it was a piece of the puzzle. There was an energy eminating from it. That house was part of what was happening, it was actually an integral part of the skyline.

While I was struck by the juxtaposition of the two spaces - home and work - I began to wonder what these people were getting ready for, where they were going, what the day would bring for them. I found myself focussing on not just the home space or the work space, or the commute between them, but all that happens in a person's day, the space between this moment and that moment ... the space between...

By adding the human element, I feel this image shows the captivating beauty of the city on a grand scale and every day beauty on the personal scale. I've always been intrigued with how to blend those two concepts."
